Belgium qualify for quarter-finals of EuroBasket Women as group winners

Belgium have qualified for the quarter-finals of EuroBasket Women with a 72-60 victory over Czechia in Brno that sees them top Group C.

The team were already assured of progressing out of the group stage, following victories over Montenegro and Portugal. Despite losing the final group match, Czechia also qualify for the knockout stage as runners-up.

Topping the group means Belgium will avoid favourites France, who they lost to in the semi-final of last summer’s Olympics. The Belgian Cats eventually finished fourth in Paris, losing a close-fought bronze medal playoff match to Australia.
