"body": "
The Belgian federal government has agreed a limited, short-term package of energy support measures worth €80 million, aimed at helping commuters and vulnerable households.

The measures will run for three months, from May to July, and are designed to ease pressure from rising energy costs linked to conflict in the Middle East.

Most of the funding, €60 million, will support workers who rely on their car to travel to work. Employers will be encouraged to increase mileage allowances. The government is offering tax credits to fully cover rises of up to 20 per cent, capped at 10 cents per kilometre. The extra payments will not be taxed for employees.

A further €5 million will go towards increasing the standard mileage rate for work-related travel using private cars.

To support vulnerable households, €15 million will be allocated to social funds helping people pay for heating costs, particularly those using gas or heating oil.
<div id=\"bookmark-8877c4dd-fdda-467f-9f29-ee3e0f5fb9e2\"\n     class=\"release-content-bookmark release-content-bookmark--horizontal\">\n\n            <a class=\"release-content-bookmark__thumbnail\"\n           href=\"http://prez.ly/p0Dd\"\n           rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\n           target=\"_blank\"           style=\"background-image: url(https://prezly.imgix.net/https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.uc.assets.prezly.com%2Fa2d0c0a9-ef4c-4ded-ad9f-0017a51ec829%2F-%2Fpreview%2F600x600%2F?ar=1%3A1&fit=crop&s=5da92e2080cacf5dceadf02af06dd5e6)\"\n        >\n    \n
\n\n                    <a class=\"release-content-bookmark__title\"\n               href=\"http://prez.ly/p0Dd\"\n               rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\n               target=\"_blank\"               data-type=\"bookmark\"\n               data-track=\"Story WebBookmark Click\"\n               data-placement=\"content\"\n               data-id=\"8877c4dd-fdda-467f-9f29-ee3e0f5fb9e2\"\n           >\n                Belgian government allocates 80 million euros to compensate for high energy prices            \n        \n
\n The federal government is allocating up to 80 million euros for energy support, spread over the coming three months, Belga has learned from...
\n        \n        <a href=\"https://www.belganewsagency.eu/\"\n           target=\"_blank\"\n           rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"\n           class=\"release-content-bookmark__provider\"\n        >\n            \n            belganewsagency.eu        \n
\n
\n
The government has also delayed a planned rise in energy duties on gas, electricity and heating oil until 1 August.

Additional measures include encouraging home working, carpooling and more efficient driving, alongside a public campaign promoting lower energy use.
