Belgian women retain European basketball title

The Belgian Cats, the national women’s basketball team, won the European championships on Sunday night, beating Spain 67-65. ​ The Spanish were better most of the game, but Belgium were too strong in the very final minutes.

The Cats were champions for the first time two years ago and played a good tournament. Sunday's victory in Athens was another high point for a golden generation of Belgians.
