Belgian PM discusses security situation with Romanian prime minister
On Wednesday afternoon, Belgian prime minister Alexander De Croo met with Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă. The two discussed, among other things, the current security situation and the energy crisis.
A battalion of the Belgian military is currently active in Romania as part of the deterrence force NATO rolled out in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
De Croo and Ciucă also discussed ways to cooperate more closely on green energy and talked about semiconductor cooperation involving the Flanders-based research centre IMEC, the prime minister's office revealed.
Finally, the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre SCK-CEN signed agreements with two Romanian research institutes in the presence of the two prime ministers.
