Belgian King and Princess mark birthday week with new photos

King Philippe of Belgium and his youngest daughter Princess Eléonore of Belgium are celebrating their birthdays this week with the release of new official photos.
The King turns 66 on 15 April, while Princess Eléonore celebrates her 18th birthday the following day. To mark the occasion, the Royal Palace shared a portrait of the pair together in the gardens of Royal Palace of Laeken.
The photo recreates a picture taken ten years ago, when a young Eléonore posed with her father among blooming daffodils. This new version offers a gentle nod to the past, showing how much she has grown.
Despite reaching the typical retirement age, King Philippe is not expected to step down. Meanwhile, Princess Eléonore’s milestone birthday marks her coming of age, making her the last of the royal children to turn 18.
The princess, who studies in English at the International School of Brussels, is known for keeping a low profile. She enjoys music and sport, including violin, skiing, tennis and sailing. Her future plans after finishing school this summer have not yet been announced.
