Belgian holding GBL injects half a billion euros into British eye care company Rayner

The Belgian investment holding company Groupe Bruxelles Lambert (GBL) is investing 500 million euros in Rayner, a British medtech company specialising in ophthalmology. Healthcare is one of GBL's priority sectors.

On Monday, GBL announced a 500 million euro investment in British medtech company Rayner. The Brussels-based holding company will acquire a 45 per cent stake. Together with private equity player CVC, it will have control of the company.

Rayner, headquartered in the United Kingdom, is a global player in ophthalmic solutions, from lenses and surgical instruments to eye drops. It sells these products in more than 80 countries.

The investment is in line with GBL's renewed strategy, which focuses on healthcare and private investments.
