Belgian company BESIX delivers Mohammed VI Tower, Morocco’s tallest building

The Brussels-based construction group BESIX has completed the Mohammed VI Tower, now the tallest building in Morocco, the company announced on Monday.
The 250-metre tower, rising above the Bouregreg Valley in Rabat, was awarded to BESIX in 2018. The group worked in partnership with the Moroccan firm Travaux Généraux de Construction Casablanca (TGCC) to deliver the 55-storey structure, visible from up to 50 kilometres away and set to become a defining feature of the capital’s skyline.
Conceived as a mixed-use development, the tower brings together a luxury hotel, office space and residential apartments, alongside a panoramic observation deck. Belgian expertise is also reflected in the interior: Flamant Design was responsible for furnishing prestigious areas such as the ballroom and main lobby.

The project placed strong emphasis on both resilience and sustainability. During the design phase, BESIX engineers accounted for seismic activity, powerful winds and potential flooding. The tower is anchored by foundations extending 60 metres deep, while renewable energy generation is supported by approximately 4,000 square metres of solar panels installed on the façade and rooftop.
"We are honoured to contribute to the urban transformation of Morocco," said Sébastien Dusausoy of BESIX. "The tower is not only an iconic landmark in the Rabat skyline but also a lasting legacy of innovation."
International portfolio
The Mohammed VI Tower also fits within BESIX’s wider international track record, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa. The group has delivered high-profile cultural infrastructure, including a landmark museum project in Abu Dhabi. In Egypt, it played a key role in the construction of the Grand Egyptian Museum near Cairo, one of the largest archaeological museums in the world.
