European Championships Basketball: Belgian Cats advance to quarter-finals after beating Italy

Sunday, the Belgian Cats won their third group game at the European Championships in Israel and Slovenia. The women's basketball team defeated Italy 72-64 (43-39 at halftime) in Tel Aviv to advance to the quarter-finals as group winners.

Earlier in the tournament, the Cats beat hosts Israel (108-59) and the Czech Republic (84-41). The Belgian women are among the favourites at this European Championship. They have won two European Championship bronze medals, in 2017 and 2021.
