At least 15 people killed in 'horrific' Russian attack on Kyiv

Ukraine’s capital Kyiv underwent “one of the most horrific attacks” by Russia on Monday night, president Volodymyr Zelensky posted on X. At least 15 people were killed. More than 440 drones and 32 missiles were used in the attack.
“Such attacks are pure terrorism,” Zelensky said. “And the whole world, the United States and Europe must finally respond as civilized societies respond to terrorism.”
Russian president Vladimir Putin “does this solely because he can afford to continue the war", he wrote. "He wants the war to go on.”
In Kyiv, rescue services are still trying to pull people out from under the rubble of an apartment building. It is unclear how many people are trapped.

There were further attacks on the cities of Odessa, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad and Mykolaiv.
Zelensky had hoped to meet US president Donald Trump on the margins of the G7 summit in Canada to discuss new sanctions and the purchase of additional weapons. However, Trump left the meeting early.
The White House initially said his departure was related to “what’s going on in the Middle East”, but Trump later denied that in a post on his Truth Social platform. He also lashed out at French president Emmanuel Macron, who had said he was leaving because of developments in Israel and Iran.
