The Belgian FA has launched its official World Cup anthem. Kiss The Grass (Allez Allez) is a collaboration between Flemish singer Sylvie Kreusch and Brussels rapper Roméo Elvis.
The two have joined forces to create a “modern and emotional track that celebrates unity, friendship and collective strength — values that are central to Belgian football”, the RBFA said.
“With epic strings, a pulsating bassline and powerful drums, combined with dreamy guitar parts, the song creates a unique, almost surreal atmosphere.”
Like the team’s new away kit, the video and artwork for the song reference surrealism and artist René Magritte. Kreusch and Elvis wear bowler hats, a motif often used by Magritte.
The song is also a nod to Allez allez by the 80s funk band of the same name, whose singer and bassist was Serge Van Laeken, the father of Roméo Elvis.
“More than just an anthem, the song embodies a shared ambition,” the RBFA said. “To unite an entire nation behind the Red Devils as they prepare to shine on the world stage this summer.”
Belgium kick off their World Cup campaign on 15 June with a first group match in Seattle against Egypt. They will then face Iran and New Zealand.
