33 candidates for every vacancy for civil servant

The number of candidates for federal government jobs has risen again in 2025 to an average of 33 per vacancy. The competent ministry reported this.

The federal government is doing well in the job market. The relevant job site received more than 500,000 monthly visits in 2025, an increase compared to previous years. At the same time, the number of vacancies fell by 26 percent to 5,872 openings.

Competition, therefore, increased. The ministry counted an average of 33 candidates per vacancy for new vacancies and vacancies on recruitment reserves. An average that is rising for the fourth year in a row. In total, 93,366 people applied.

Top management positions were also in demand. Although there were a limited number of vacancies, an average of 18 interested individuals applied for top management vacancies. The number of female candidates increased from 35.5 percent to 40 percent.
